Bantams – So Cal Youth Invitational 4/13 and 4/14
Hi Bantam families,
This weekend (April 6th) we are competing at Moorpark High school and it is a typical dual meet.
The next weekend of April 13th and 14th is our two day So Cal Youth Invitational where we get the opportunity to compete with all the athletes in our league as well as the SCYTFC teams. Please read the information below
April 13th and 14th is the Southern California Youth Invitational held this year at Oxnard High School.
This meet is a “can’t miss” experience for all athletes. It is NOT an “elite only” meet, all athletes can attend and it is a great chance for all of our athletes to set PR’s. There are over 15 teams and close to 2,000 athletes of all levels that participate. Athletes are placed in heats with competitors very close to their own ability, which means great competition. Great competition usually equates to great performances!
It is a two day meet and athletes can choose up to 3 events.
- They can do up to 2 individual events (running and field events both count as individual events), plus one relay
OR
- They can do 2 relays and 1 individual event.
- They can also do less than 3 events if they choose.
- The 4X400 is NOT a free event at this meet.
Event sign ups must be completed by the end of practice on Wednesday April 10th. Socal Youth Invitational meet is unlike our normal dual meets where athletes can be added on the spot or right up until the until the meet. Athletes must sign up prior to the event.
If you are unable to get to practice prior to the deadline you can email the information to bantams@venturatigres.org or text to 805-766-7171 sign up your athlete.
The events and their order are listed below:
Event Limits: Bantam, Midget & Youth may participate in up to 2 individual events plus 1 relay, or 1 individual event plus 2 relays. Intermediates / Young Women & Men: up to 3 individual events. STRICTLY ENFORCED (sanction for over–eventing, is DQ for all events participated in).

Bantams – upcoming week 4/1 – 4/6
Good Morning Bantam families,
Just a quick reminder that even with the VUSD Spring break holiday this week, we still have a full week of team and specialty practices.
If your athlete is going to be out of town, please email me with the events that they would like to compete in on Saturday, April 6th at Moorpark. If they are NOT going to attend the meet, please email me that too.
See you soon,
Kristin
Bantams – Meet #3 @ Buena HS
Hi Bantam families,
Just some reminders for our meet tomorrow:
- We are running with the Thousand Oaks Flyers and the Simi Valley Track Club at Buena HS.
- Please have your athletes ready to go and on the track by 8:00.
- As I am sure you are realizing, these meets can take most of the day, so they’ll need water, sunscreen, their labeled sweats, and healthy and easy to digest snacks. Water is allowed on the field, but all food must be kept in the stands.
See you tomorrow,
Kristin

Bantams – Oxnard meet recap
Hi Bantam families,
I am SO proud of all of our athletes!! There were so many PRs, so many kids stepping up to fill in for relays, so many kids trying something new, and SO many smiles!!
I picked up a LOT of Tigres gear from our Bantam area at the end of the meet; I’ll bring it all to practice on Monday.
See you all at practice this week,
Coach Kristin
Bantams – Meet #2 @ Oxnard HS
Hi Bantam families,
Just some reminders for our meet tomorrow:
- We are running with the Oxnard Stars at Oxnard High School 3400 W. Gonzales Road
- Relay help: I am still looking for two girl runners that want to run the 4×400. I have six that signed up and need two more so we can run two girl teams. Please email me if your athlete wants to be in the best part of the meet 🙂
See you tomorrow,
Kristin

Bantams – practice this week and Oxnard meet
Hi Bantam families,
We have been having so much fun with our athletes this week! They have had some terrific workouts, and we are all so impressed with their focus on the track!
Unfortunately, due to a high school meet, there are NO specialty practices tomorrow on Thursday. There WILL BE specialties on Friday. If your athlete is focused on relay, high jump, long jump, or shot put we really encourage them to come to these smaller practices so they can practice their skills. Especially for those that are passionate for relay, we will be taking into consideration those that attend these practices when creating the teams. Please refer to the practice schedule on the Tigres website. https://www.venturatigres.org/practice/
For Saturday:
Location: Oxnard High School 3400 W. Gonzales Road
Arrival time: 8:00am
Meet start time: 8:30am
The results from last week’s meet are on athletic.net. Please let me know if you need help navigating the site.
See you soon,
Kristin Daw
Bantams – Meet #1 @ Fillmore HS
Hi Bantam families,
We are so excited that our first official meet is finally here!! A few quick reminders:
- We are running with the Heritage Valley Blazers at Fillmore High School.
- Please have your athlete on the track by 8:00. When you are planning your departure time please be aware that the Fillmore High School venue is small and parking is limited.
- It is expected to be warm and windy on Saturday. Unfortunately, EZ Ups are NOT allowed at Fillmore High School. I’m thinking tents, umbrellas, and tarps may be our best hope to give our athletes a break from the sun.
- Your athlete will need LOTS of water, LOTS of sunscreen, their Tigres uniform, running shoes, spikes (if they have used them in practice), sweats, a hat, and enough healthy snacks to keep them ready for the next event. Water is allowed on the field, but all food must be kept in the stands.
We talked about hydration on Wednesday, but please remind them to drink extra water tonight.
Your Bantam coaches are REALLY looking forward to watching them run and jump tomorrow!!
If you have any last minute questions, feel free to text me.

Bantams – Practice meet recap and Fillmore meet 3/16
Although our practice meet was designed to primarily train the volunteers, your Bantam coaches were so impressed with the dedication and grit of all of our athletes! They are SO much fun to watch!!
Please know that for the regular season, there will be more time between events which will make for smoother and longer transitions as well as more rested athletes. We appreciate all of your support as we worked out the kinks.
For the meet next week with Heritage Valley at Fillmore high school, our athletes have many more options.
The order of running events is:
3200 (NOT a Bantam event)
Hurdles (NOT a Bantam event)
4×100
1600
400
100
800
200
4×400 (free event – not counting towards their total)
Field events will include:
Long Jump
High Jump (they must be cleared by a coach to compete)
Shot Put (they should attend a specialty day on either Tuesday or Friday)
The total event total is 4 (the 4×400 does NOT count), three of which can be running. If an athlete exceeds their event total, they will be disqualified for all of their events for that meet. We will try to monitor this as best we can, but ultimately the athletes themselves need to be aware of their events.
If your athlete is interested in trying High Jump, they must be cleared through the High Jump coach on either Thursday or Friday. Also, if they have an event or skill they are serious about improving upon (i.e., relay, starts, long jump, shot put) they should try to attend a specialty day or two that focuses on that skill.
Information for March 16th:
Arrival time: 8:00 sharp on the field
Start time: 8:30
Location: Fillmore High School 555 Central Ave. Fillmore, CA
Sign-ups will be on the clipboards starting tomorrow. If they are not going to attend the meet, please have them draw a line through their name.
Starting with our first official meet next week, you will find the results posted on our website.
Thanks again for all of your support!
Kristin
