Bantams – Southern California Youth Invitational Track Meet
Hello Parents!
The Southern California Youth Invitational Track Meet is quickly approaching (Saturday, April 7th and Sunday, April 8th). This is a two day meet where your athletes are able to compete with athletes from our conference (Ventura County Youth Track and Field) and our neighboring conference (Southern California Youth Track and Field). This is some pretty good competition at a well-run track meet taking place at a great venue (College of the Canyons) in Santa Clarita. I hope as many of our athletes as possible are able to take advantage of this opportunity! Here’s some helpful information:
- Events span two days, with separate days for each events. Some events can span both days, such as the 100m and the 4x100m relay.
- See attached flyer for specifics regarding which events take place on which days.
- Athletes may compete in up to two individual events (track and field) plus one relay, or one individual event plus two relays. Over-eventing will result in disqualification for all of that athlete’s events.
- Athletes must have their event sign-ups in no later than Wednesday, April 4th. This is a pre-seeded meet (which is one reason why it runs so smooth), so there are no late sign-ups. No exceptions!
- Coaches are not allowed on the field – athletes must listen for the calls, get on the field & warmed up, and into staging themselves.
Please take a look at the flyer for more information. Contact me with any questions (bantams@venturatigres.org; 805-797-5774). I will start taking sign-ups via email after this weekend’s meet.
Hope to see you there!

- Please remind your athlete to sign up for this weekend’s meet during practice. If they forget, please email me with their events no later than Thursday evening.
- This weekend’s meet with T.O. Flyers will be at Westlake High School (100 Lakeview Canyon Rd,
Thousand Oaks, CA 91362). - Start time will be at 1:00PM (website currently shows noon start time).

Bantams – Tomorrow’s Meet
Hello Parents –
Hope you’re looking forward to our meet with Oxnard tomorrow! It will start at 8:30 and will be at Oxnard High School. A few things to remember:
- If your athlete is running the 4×100 relay, please have them there by 8:00. The 3200’s and hurdles go fast and we need to be ready with our relay teams.
- The 1600 is right after the relays, so those athletes should be there by 8:30 to get warmed up.
- It should be a nice day tomorrow, but don’t forget sweats – and please make sure they’re labelled, and that your athletes don’t forget to take their sweatshirts/sweats home after the meet. I had a nice little collection after last week’s meet…!
- Remember snacks, sunscreen and water – water only is allowed on the infield, no food.
- Be ready to have a great day tomorrow!

Bantams Meet Recap
Hello Parents –
Hope everyone is drying off, and maybe your athletes are enjoying that congratulatory cup of hot chocolate after the meet! Each of your athletes worked very hard today, not only pushing themselves in their events but also working against the weather. All of the coaches were impressed with the effort and sportsmanship that was on display today – it was a great day! Thank you parents and family for sticking it out today.
I was made aware of one athlete that missed an event because they were at another event. If that happened to your athlete, please let me know so I can be sure to “plug the gaps”, so to speak, moving forward. We want to do our best to make sure each athlete competes in the events for which they sign up.
Thank you again, and enjoy the rest of your weekends!
Coach Kevin
