Several former Tigres athletes are sponsoring a fundraiser to remember Austin Gambill in partnership with the Ventura-based non-profit Runners for Public Lands and the Ventura Land Trust. These students are still seeking more donations to reach their $10,000 goal to plant an oak tree and install a bench to remember Austin Gambill in Ventura’s Harmon Canyon.

Ventura Tigres is proud to see our athletes taking an active role in Ventura’s running community. Please consider giving a donation to this fundraising effort by clicking below.

A word from the Students:

Austin Gambill was a dedicated and inspiring young man who competed in Ventura Tigres, where he showed immense sportsmanship and work ethic. He continued to grow as an excellent runner and teammate while running on Ventura High School’s Cross Country and Track and Field teams.

Austin tragically passed away on March 13, 2020, but his classmates and teammates continue carrying on his legacy of hard work and positivity.

Austin’s teammates and members of Ventura High School’s Student Runners for Public Lands club are raising $10,000 to sponsor an oak tree and bench at Harmon Canyon Preserve in memory of Austin.

By raising funds to sponsor a tree and sitting area in Austin’s name, the members of Student Runners for Public Lands hope to solidify his memory in a longeval form of life that reflects his humble spirit, caring demeanor, and strength of character. Members strive to embody his drive to do good and uplift the community, and by donating to an endeavor as worthy as Ventura Land Trust’s, hope to contribute to VLT’s cause to protect nature and provide public land for people, including runners such as Austin, to enjoy.

Tigres was a very influential stepping stone in Austin’s journey as an athlete and a person. The program contributed greatly to his development as an all-around amazing human and continues to leave a positive impact on Ventura’s community. We are deeply grateful that the Tigres program has offered to promote this cause, and are appreciative of all the support from the community.

Thank you so much!
