Midgets- Finals Meet Wrap up and Post Season Practice Schedule
Dear Parents,
Our Midget team came out yesterday and absolutely rocked the Finals West Meet! From relay heroes to the midget mile full of amazing PRs, to fast sprints and finally the G4x400 where they raced against the clock and beat it with seconds to spare, it was a day of pushing past comfort zones and achieving personal and team success. What a day!
For many of our Midgets, this marks the end of the season. We will meet again on Sunday May 19th for our club wide picnic where we will share food, stories, and highlights of the season. Athletes will also receive team photos, ribbons that they did not collect during the season, and a gift. We will also enjoy a video of the season. In other words, this is a must-not- miss event and we hope to see you all there. For details on the event, please see the Tigres website.
For those athletes moving on to Conference finals and/or Co- conference Finals, we will hold practice this week on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 4:30-6. Practices will include sprint/distance workouts as usual followed by specialty practice including relays and all field events. If your athlete is only running distance or sprints and not competing in relays or field events, feel free to pick them up at 5:30.
If you have any questions, please contact me at midgets@venturatigres.org or text 8053206544
Warmly,
Coach Carol
Midgets- This week, Finals and Championships
Saturday’s meet against Newbury Park marked the end of the regular season. As usual, the Midgets came out with great attitudes and competed hard! Many athletes tried new events while others set new Prs. Hopefully all had fun!
We are now moving on to the championship season. As a reminder, ALL athletes are eligible to compete in the Conference Finals on May 4th. However, if your athlete secured a spot in the Championship meet for an individual event, they are not eligible to run that event in the Finals. Also, in order to compete in an event at the Finals this weekend, they must have competed in that event during our regular season.
We will be practicing as normal this week, with regular team practices on Monday and Wednesday and a full schedule of specialty practices on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Wednesday’s practice will be a quick workout followed by fun and games. A towel may be helpful for the ride home and we may run a little late:)
This will be the last week of practice for those athletes who did not qualify (unless you are chosen for a relay team) for the Conference Championships.
We would like to congratulate the list of athletes below who have qualified for the Conference Championships on May 11th. This is a huge accomplishment! The athletes below have qualified for individual events – we will also be working this week to finalize relay spots and should have that solidified by the end of Wednesday practice. Our goal is to send as many athletes as possible to the Co-Conference Championship on May 18th and we will be asking for many of our athletes to run relays at the Conference Finals on May 4th and the Conference Championships on May 11th. Please stay tuned for the announcement of those teams.

Midgets- Wednesday Practice and Saturday’s Meet
Dear parents,
I’m writing to let you know that I’ll be out of town from this Wednesday until late Saturday and will miss this weekend’s meet. Coach Chris and all of our other amazing Midget Coaches will run the practices and Saturday’s meet as per usual. The reason for my absence is that 3 weeks ago my father passed away suddenly and unexpectedly and I’ll be going out to his home in Missouri to deal with family affairs and such.
I share this because the past 3 weeks have been emotionally challenging, and I just want to thank you all for sharing your amazing athletes. Tigres and this team have provided me some much needed stability and the smiling faces of your athletes with their awesome effort and attitude have allowed me to stay in the present and find moments of joy every day.
It may sound crazy but I have not missed a meet in my 6 years with Tigres because I really, really enjoy the meets and cheering on your athletes. So, please text me pictures or videos on Saturday as I will be thinking of our team and I know Chance and I could use something to smile at:)
Lastly, If you have any last minute questions or sign ups, I will still receive all emails sent to midgets@venturatigres.org and I will forward the messages on to Coach Chris. Thank you Coach Chris.
Thank you all.
Warmly,
Coach Carol
Midgets- Planning ahead for the rest of the season- Please Read
Hi Midget Parents,
WOW!!!! What a wonderful weekend of competition! Our Midget Athletes ROCK!!! Thank you all for coming out and supporting your athletes and the Tigres Team.
Our season is moving along quickly (too quickly for me) and there are only 2 regular season meets left before we move into the championship season. The championship season includes Conference Finals (this meet is open to all athletes), Conference Championships (athletes must qualify during our regular season) and the Co-Conference Championship (athletes qualify through the Conference Championship Meet).
In order to qualify for the Championship Meet on May 11th, an athlete needs to be in the Top 9 (Top 12 for the 800, 1600 and 3200) in an event after the last meet is finished on April 27th. It is a HUGE accomplishment to make the Championship meet and we would like to see as many of our athletes qualify as possible. Please take a look at the Top 25 lists (below) and see where the best opportunities for each athlete may lie. Athletes may want to narrow down their focus when choosing events to compete in over the next 2 meets if qualifying for the Championship meet is a goal of theirs.
If you have any questions, please email midgets@venturatigres.org or /text 805-320-6544.

https://www.athletic.net/TrackAndField/Division/Top.aspx?List=19257&SchoolID=47207&S=2019&depth=25&filter=403
Please note that the above lists will change after the results from this weekend’s meet become finalized on athletic.net and will continue to change as the season progresses.
For those Midgets hoping to earn a Golden Baton (compete in 10 of the 12 events that Midgets can compete in) or Platinum Baton ( compete in all 12 of the events offered to Midgets), they only have 2 meets left to accomplish this. The Conference Finals meet does not count because in order to compete in an event in the Conference Finals, an athlete must have already competed in that event during our regular season.
Enjoy your Sunday evening and we look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.
Warmly,
Coach Carol

Midgets- So Cal Youth Invitational
Hi athletes and families
We are looking forward to watching you all compete this weekend at Oxnard High.
Just a few quick reminders for tomorrow:
Please leave plenty of time for parking as this is a large event.
Coaches are not allowed on the field for this meet. We will be in the stands under the Tigres tent or along the sidelines cheering you all on.
Athletes for each event will meet on the field and warm up together.
There are no athlete stickers for this meet. The meet is pre-seeded and athletes just need to give their name in staging and they will be put in their pre-determined heats. There are no adds or changes to meet entries.
Please remember lots of water, sunscreen, snacks, your Tigres uniform, and your awesome attitudes!
See you all in the morning.
GOOOOO TIGRES!!!!
Midgets -So Cal Youth Invitational – We need sign ups- PLEASE
Hi families,
We are missing sign ups for nearly 1/2 of our Midget athletes for this weekend’s meet.
Sign ups need to be in by end of practice tomorrow at the latest.
I highly encourage all our athletes to attend this event. You do not have to attend both days (but of course you can if you want to:))
This is a great opportunity for our athletes to set a new personal record as they are placed in heats with runners of very similar speeds.
Plus, it is in Oxnard, which is basically our backyard versus Santa Clarita or Simi Valley as in years past.
I needs signs ups for the following athletes:
Kadyn, Sam,. Baker, Julian C, Finn, Evan, Ben, Myles, Blake, Connor R, Ethan S, Chase, Tyler, Eli
Grace, Marlee, Lailah, Breena, Victoria, Hazel L, Malia, Karisma, Zoey, Vail, Bridget, Gisel, Hazel R, Bennet, Paige, Melanie
Schedule of events can be found here: 2019 Southern California Invitational
Email to midgets@veturatigres.org or text to 805-320-6544
Thank you,
Coach Carol
Midgets- So Cal Youth Invitational Sign ups
HI Midget families,
Yesterday was another impressive display of effort, enthusiasm and achievement from the Tigres Midgets!!
This weekend is the So Cal Youth Invitational at Oxnard High School. This is a two day event where athletes get to compete with all teams in our conference, VCYTC and all teams in the SCYTFC conference. This meet is open to ALL athletes and is not a qualifying meet!
Sign ups for this meet MUST be in by end of practice Tuesday if your athlete wants to run in a relay and end of practice Wednesday if they only want to run in individual events. This is a seeded meet meaning that all athletes are entered into the computer on Wednesday, therefore, there will be NO late entries.
Please remember that this is a two day meet and refer to the flyer for which events are run on each day and discuss this with your athlete before they sign up.
2019 Southern California Invitational
Event limit MAX for this meet is 3 events- either 2 individual and 1 relay or 2 relay and one individual. Field and running events both count as individual events. The 4×400 relay is NOT a free event and counts towards a relay.
Clear as mud- right?:)
If you have questions or would prefer to sign up your athlete via email or text, I can be reached at midgets@venturatigres.org or 805-320-6544. If you text, please begin your text with your athlete’s name, so I do not miss it.
Thank you all!
Warmly,
Coach Carol
