On April 13th and 14th, we will be attending the Southern California Youth Invitational. The meet takes place at the College of the Canyons and is the largest youth track meet in the United States (2,500 athletes participated last year) from the VCYTC and the SCYTC. While there are some incredible athletes, this is a meet for all ability levels. It is a great chance for our athletes to see what a large invitational track meet is like and a great chance to run some PR’s!!!
The meet takes place over two days and athletes are allowed to take part in 3 events, (2 individual events plus one relay or 1 individual event plus 2 relays). Please see the meet flyer for the order of events at: http://www.vcytc.org/track/4th_Annual_Southern_California_Youth_Invitational_%282%29.pdf
We need to have all athlete event sign ups in by Monday evening. This is a pre-seeded meet, so there will be no meet day additions. It also means that athletes will be competing in heats that are near their own ability (there were 105 heats of the 100m dash last year, run on both sides of the track).
We will have the event sign up sheet at the meet on Saturday as well as at practice on Monday. If you will not be able to make either of those days, please send your event selections to mjhammel@roadrunner.com.
We would love to see all of our athletes compete in this meet – it is an amazing atmosphere! Please let us know if you have any questions regarding the meet.
