All Comers Meet on Saturday at VC – come join us!!!

Hey Youth and Intermediate!  Tigres season is ALMOST here!!!  It would be fun to see as many of you as possible this Saturday at Ventura College.  There is an all comers meet that is VERY low key where you can just jump into events that you find interesting.  Sorry, there are no field events and the running events are mostly distance focused (800 meters is the shortest individual race).  Even if you aren’t up for running, come say hi and bring a friend that might be interested in signing up for Tigres this season.  Here is a link to the info:

Reminder — Tuck & Judy Mason Distance Classic — Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018

If you have any questions, please feel free to give me a call (650-678-3681) or email youth@venturatigres.org.

Looking forward to seeing you all out there!

YOUTH/INTERMEDIATE – End of 2018 Season!

For all of the Youth/Intermediate athletes that are moving on to High School, we can’t wait to see what the future has in store for you and hope to see you on your High School track teams next year.

For the rest of you, see you in Tigres next year for another great season!

YOUTH/INTERMEDIATE – Co-Conference Championship Qualifying and Practice This Week

Because there are drops and event limits in the Co-Conference Championships, we will not know who has officially qualified for this Saturday’s meet until some time on Tuesday.  So, if you came to practice last week, please plan on coming to practice on Monday.  Once we have a list of those who are able to compete on Saturday, we will publish the list.

YOUTH/INTERMEDIATE – Movie and Athlete Gifts

It was great to see so many families at the End of Season Picnic.  What a great season!

For athletes who were unable to attend, your athlete gifts and packets with ribbons, medals and team picture will be at the Buena track on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 4:30 to 6:00.  Please come by to the pick them up.

Here is a link to the Youth/Intermediate Season Movie as well.

YOUTH/INTERMEDIATE – End of Season Picnic and Movie Trailer

Tigres would like to invite all athletes and their families to celebrate the conclusion of our awesome season with a team picnic held this Sunday, May 6th, at the Ventura Unified School District office, located at 255 West Stanley Ave.  It starts at noon and will last until about 3:00.  There will be pizza provided, but each age group is responsible for bringing something to share with everyone – Youth and Intermediate is providing water.  Each athlete needs to bring 6 bottles (a few athletes can go in together and provide a case). After some socializing, eating and some general announcements, the Youth and Intermediate team will have our own meeting where we will hand out any ribbons/medals that have not been distributed, along with a team picture and a couple of gifts to remember the season.

We will also be playing a season highlight video, so as a bit of a teaser, here is the trailer for the movie.  Can’t wait to see everyone there!!!

YOUTH/INTERMEDIATE – End of Season Info and Championship Meets

What a great meet on Saturday!  The PR’s piled up as the season came to an end for many of our athletes.  We are really looking forward to celebrating the season with the entire team at our end of season picnic on May 6th.  Please be on the look out for more information regarding the time, location and what to bring.

So, for athletes who have qualified for the Conference Championship, practices are now going to be on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 4:30-6:00.  There will be no practices offered on Tuesday or Friday.  We will be doing our team workouts together, but athletes will have the opportunity to work on all of their specialty events on each of those days (typically after the running workout).  If you are uncertain whether you have qualified for the Conference Championship meet, please see the previous posts:

YOUTH/INTERMEDIATE – Camarillo Meet Recap and This Week

Another great week of practice and guess what…ANOTHER GREAT WEEK OF PERFORMANCES!!!  The athletes have been working so hard over the past few weeks and the PR’s continue to pile up.  It was truly amazing to see how hard all of our athletes competed on Saturday.  Aside from performances, it looked like a good time was had, especially as the sun went down and the lights came on.  The 4×400’s were awesome!  I hope all the parents, families and friends had as good of a time as our team did.

This weekend’s meet is the Conference Finals West at Oxnard High School where we will be competing against Oxnard, Ojai and Newbury Park.  There are no qualifications required to participate in this meet, other than athletes can not participate in an event they haven’t done previously this season.  We really hope everyone does there best to attend – it is a great meet and a great way to close out the season for many of our athletes.

This is our last week of practice as a full team, so let’s close out with another great week of attendance and hard work.  Details will be coming out as the Conference Championship spots are made final and we work as a coaching team to put our relay plans together.  Our goal every year is to send as many athletes to the Conference Championships and Co-Conference Championships as possible, so we may be asking for help on the relays from many of our team members.  I hope every member of our team will be receptive to playing whatever role they are asked as we do our best to involve as many athletes as we possibly can.

Lastly, at Wednesday’s practice, we will be having a BBQ during the second half of the practice time (around 5:15 or so) after we finish our workouts.  We hoping to see everyone there!

I know the Championship season is very confusing with Conference Finals, Conference Championships and Co-Conference Championships.  Please see the post on the Tigres homepage for a detailed explanation, but if you have any questions at all, feel free to email youth@venturatigres.org or call/text 650-678-3681.
