Y/I – Upcoming week and Meet 4/1
Hi Youth and Intermediate Families,
Not only was today’s meet fast, but so were our athletes! We really like the Moorpark track, and I again received an email after the meet complimenting our kids! All of the coaches recognize that we have a special group!
Some things to note for this week:
- NO Practice on Thursday, March 30th. Buena is hosting Ventura HS for a home track meet. I would LOVE to see our kids in the stands cheering on the runners in their Tigres gear!
- HOME Meet on Saturday, April 1st. We are hosting the Thousand Oaks flyers. For parent volunteers, this will be your third of four meet obligations. Please know that you must fulfill all four shifts to earn priority registration for next season. Our waitlist is long this year, and we really want all of our athletes to be able to earn that priority status to ensure their spot on the team. If you have questions about volunteering, please contact Jeremy Patelzick at tigres.ventura@gmail.com
- Looking forward, there is NO practice on 4/3-4/8 over Spring Break, but next weekend we will be sending out suggested workouts to keep our kids focused on their goals.
- Once they are official, results from today’s meet will be on our website under the results section. For now, you can find them at http://royalresults.com/liveresults/
Please feel free to reach out with your questions,
Kristin

3/25 Meet Reminders
Hi Youth and Intermediate Families 🙂
Some reminders for Saturday 3/25:
- Our meet is at Moorpark High School this Saturday. March 25th.
- The arrival time of 7:45 is incredibly important for athletes doing the 3200, hurdles, and 4×100! The early time allows us to warm them up properly; both the 3200 and hurdles need a long warm-up, and the team bonding time and warm-up before the 4×100 is important.
- I will not be at practice tonight, so feel free to text me the events if they have not signed up. I will create the relay teams this evening, so if they want to be on a relay team, please send that to me today.
- The results for our previous two meets can now be found on the Tigres Website under Results.
As always, reach out with any questions.

NO Practice 3/21
Due to the heavy rain, we are canceling specialty practices today, Tuesday, March 21. We will see your athletes tomorrow 🙂

NP Meet recap and Meet at Moorpark 3/25
Hi Youth and Intermediate Families 🙂
Your athletes had a wonderful meet yesterday!! There were lots of smiles, lots of PRs, and lots of cheering for each other! The Newbury Park Panther coaches commented to me on how friendly and easy our kids were, so please pass that compliment along to your athlete!
We are now in Week #7 of our season (how is that even possible??)! Our meet is at Moorpark High School this Saturday. March 25th. The arrival time of 7:45 is incredibly important for athletes doing the 3200, hurdles, and 4×100! The early time allows us to warm them up properly; both the 3200 and hurdles need a long warm-up, and the team bonding time before the 4×100 is important.
Athletes will need to sign up this week on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. If they are not going to be at practice, please feel free to text me their events.
As always, reach out with any questions.

NO practice on Tuesday 3/14
Hi Youth and Intermediate Families,
Due to the heavy rain in the forecast, we are canceling specialty practice today. The events planned (high jump, hurdles, relay) wouldn’t be safe with the amount of rain that we are anticipating.
Stay dry and we will see your athletes tomorrow,
Kristin
Y/I HV Meet recap and upcoming week
Hi Youth and Intermediate Families,
We had such a great meet on Saturday! It was a BIG meet, and we are grateful not only for our amazing athletes who diligently listen for their events and warm themselves up, but also for all of you – the parent volunteers that help our meets run so smoothly!
The results should be posted soon, there is a slight delay due to the rain and wind and interference with the timing system.
A quick request for relays, if your athlete signed up for the relay (especially the 4×100), and they are not going to attend the meet, please text me as soon as you know. Since the 4×100 relay is early it is a scramble to fill their spot without notice and also it creates stress for the other 3 athletes when their team is in limbo.
If your athlete is focused on the relay, high jump, long jump, or shot put we really encourage them to come to the smaller specialty these practices so they can practice their skills. Especially for those that are passionate about the relay, we will be taking into consideration those that attend these practices when creating the teams. Please refer to the practice schedule on the Tigres website. https://www.venturatigres.org/practice/
For Meet #2, it is our turn to be the guests!
Location: Newbury Park High School 456 N Reino Rd, Newbury Park, CA 91320
Arrival Time: 7:45 am
Please reach out with any questions,
Kristin

Y/I Practice meet and 3/11 Meet info
Although our practice meet was designed to primarily train the volunteers, your Youth and Intermediate coaches were so impressed with all of our athletes! They are SO much fun to watch!!
Please know that for the regular season, there will be more time between events which will make for smoother and longer transitions as well as more rested athletes. We appreciate all of your support as we worked out the kinks.
For the home meet next week with the Heritage Valley Blazers, our athletes have many more options.
The order of running events is:
3200
Hurdles (they must be cleared by a coach on Tuesday to compete)
4×100
1600
400
100
800
200
4×400 (free event – NOT counting towards their total)
Field events will include:
Long Jump
High Jump (they must be cleared by a coach on Tuesday or Thursday to compete)
Shot Put (they must be cleared by a coach on Thursday to compete)
The total event total is 4 (the 4×400 does NOT count), three of which can be running. If an athlete exceeds their event total, they will be disqualified for all of their events for that meet. We will try to monitor this as best we can, but ultimately the athletes themselves need to be aware of their events.
If they have an event or skill they are serious about improving upon (i.e., relay, speed development/starts, long jump, shot put, high jump, strength) they should try to attend a specialty day or two that focuses on that skill.
Information for March 11th:
Arrival time: 7:45 sharp on the field
Start time: 8:30
Sign-ups will be on the clipboards starting Monday. If they are not going to attend the meet, please have them draw a line through their name.
Starting with our first official meet next week, you will find the results posted on our website.
Thanks again for all of your support!

If you were not able to pick up your uniform yet, they will be ready tomorrow from 7:30-7:45 ONLY. This window is small so please be prompt.
As this is our first meet, please be patient as we work out the kinks, and everyone learns their role. I told the kids all week, the purpose of this meet is to train their parents, LOL!
All of the Y/I coaches are really looking forward to seeing our athletes out on the track in their orange and black!
We cannot wait for tomorrow!!
